Fr. Tom Burkes and Wexford met on Sunday afternoon in a match that had flashes of brilliance but lacked the end to end intensity that characterized the ladies contest earlier in the day. Tipperary 3-13 Wexford 1-16 Tipperary did enough in the first half to claim the points over a Wexford side that started the game very slow, but were a transformed side in the second half and made a run at pulling off a result.  Tipp made it look easy in the first 30 minutes, but had to work in the second to hold off a late challenge that saw Wexford cut a 10 point half time lead to four.

Wexford 4-11 Tipperary 2-21 Tipperary gathered another two points in the junior hurling championship with a well-earned victory over Wexford.  Tipp had the run of things for most of the game and at one point led by 14 points however two late Wexford goals provided the Slaneysiders with a sliver of hope in injury time, but the Tipp back line withstood Wexford’s late flurry and the 4 point lead

Galway 2-16 Wexford 0-14 Galway came away with an eight point win over Brighton rivals, Wexford in hot conditions the day before the Fourth of July Holiday.  It was a tight game for 50 of the 60 minutes, and a switch of Jamie Coughlin from the wing to corner forward paid dividends for the tribesmen as the Corkman tallied two second half goals to carry the day for the Westerners. Wexford 0 -14 Tom Burke’s 0-21 Fr. Tom’s solidified their second place in the table with a well earned win over Wexford.  It was a close run first half, however in the second Tom’s picked up their game and held Wexford’s inside threats of David Dunne and Barry Carton in check in the second half.  There were some fine scores from Keith Kennedy and Niall Burke to propel Tom’s to the win.

Galway 4-12 Wexford 4-15 Wexford pulled off a victory to secure their first win of the season in a tight, tough contest against local Brighton rivals Galway.  Wexford lifted their game in the second half and got great performances from Niall Kennedy, Jamie Desmond, and Conor Murray to see them through in a game where their desire to win was evident for the full hour.
