Fr. Tom Burkes

Type: Hurling – Senior, Junior

Recent Reports:

Another junior A Semi-Final, another game that went into extra time.  It was tight all the way through, and with Tom’s ahead by a point in injury time, and Offaly free leveled matters to send it into extra time.  A sending off in the additional period did not help Tom’s cause, and a Shaun Dunne goal early in the second period set up Offaly for the win and a date with Tipperary next week.

Sunday August 13 Shannon Blues v Galway 1:45 First up are Galway and the Shannon Blues.  Galway find themselves one game away from repeating last year’s final appearance.  The westerners field a balanced side and play a fluid style, moving the ball well when in possession.  There are plenty of finishers in the forward line.  Home based stalwart Kevin Cummins can be relied on to come up

Fr. Tom Burke’s 1-14 Galway 2-8 Fr. Tom’s took the fourth game of the championship series with a one goal win.  Tom’s were a step ahead of their opponents for most of the game and in the second half the defence did a superb job of shutting down Galway’s forward line.  A last minute stop from goalkeeper Liam Doyle to deny Galway a last chance equalizer saw Tom’s over the line to reclaim the

Galway 2-14 Fr. Tom Burke’s 2-16 Two injury time points in the third game of the senior hurling championship series put Fr. Tom’s on the brink of capturing this year’s championship.  Once again it was a game that ebbed and flowed and could have gone to either side right into the final minutes, and on this occasion it was Tom’s by a nose.  Brian Ramsey put the winning point over the bar in

Tipperary 6-18 Fr. Tom Burke’s 1-10 The second junior A hurling match of the day saw Tipperary tally another one-sided victory, this time over Fr. Tom’s.  Within the first 15 minutes of the start of the game Tipp had netted three times, and put four points over the bar to a single score from Tom’s.  The way Tipp are marching through this junior hurling championship leaves little doubt as to

Fr. Tom Burke’s 1-17 Galway 2-8 On Saturday evening Tom’s came through a tough encounter against a Galway team that stuck to their task and kept it interesting to the end.  It took a late goal from Ciaran Moore for Tom’s nerves to settle and secure the points. Fr. Tom's came through against a battling Galway side.  Most of the first half scoring came from Tom’s.  Seamus Higgins and

Galway 0-8 Tipperary 4-20 Tipperary secured another one-sided win in the junior A hurling championship with a victory over Galway.  Within 10 minutes Tipp led by a goal and 5 to no score, and by half time it was a massive 4-15 to a point.  Tipp forwards were picking off points at will, with Russell Quirke, Sean Stafford and Jimmy Maher having a field day.  Galway managed to keep

Galway 0-16 Fr. Tom Burke’s 1-14 If the opening game of the senior hurling championship is anything to go by, it is going to be a tight contest between the two teams for the Boston senior title.  There was never more than a point between the teams until injury time when Galway went up by 2, only for Brian Ramsey to net on the stroke of full time and hand Tom’s the win in the first game of

Tipperary 2-13 Fr. Tom Burke’s 0-18 Tipperary captured the Sheehan Cup in the most exciting fashion possible with a point at the death from Sean Stafford.  Tipp looked like they might have left Tom’s in the dust after the first 15 minutes, but with a slight breeze behind them in the second half, Tom’s were right back in the game mid-way into the second half.  The final 15 minutes saw the
